Overview
To carry out and take responsibility for valuation assignments and, in doing so, to ensure that the client’s expectations are exceeded through the provision of a quality product within an agreed budget and timescale. To be involved in all aspects of valuations practice, including business development activities. You will be a part of a dynamic team with ambitious objectives and your role will be to provide additional expertise to widen our service offering. Job Role Valuation assignments, including: • Valuations for accounting, tax, restructuring, commercial and dispute purposes. • Valuations of companies or stakes in companies as part of transactional assignments. • Valuation of companies in the context of the raising of new capital. • Valuation of companies in the context of employee share schemes. Your role in the Valuation and Funds team will include: • Managing a project from cradle to grave, ensuring that regular communication with the Partner is maintained. • Preparing valuation reports and models, including supporting appendices and exhibits. • Supervising more junior staff in the assignment team including being the Counselling Manager for multiple junior staff. • In charge of the valuations workflow document and ensuring work within the team are completed within the required time. • Ensuring projects are all allocated and delegated properly (including ensuring partner review and verification processes are completed) • Presenting to both external and internal parties on valuations topics for both business development and training purposes. • Debtors and WIP management on projects. • Ensuring the team adheres to Mazars’ quality control procedures. Person Specification Essential: • Qualified accountant - ACA or equivalent with a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce / Accounting. • Experience in working in a professional services firm in excess of 8 years (with at least 5 years in valuations). • Experience of delivering valuations for a variety of purposes and across multiple industries. • Cross border experience including the South East Asia Pacific would be desirable. In particular, experience of writing reports and completing analyses for contentious and non-contentious valuations. • Experience in presenting to both external and internal parties on valuations topics for both business development and training purposes. • Strong research skills. • Able to convey opinions clearly – both verbally and in writing. • Able to explain technical issues to non-accountants. • Able to work on own initiative. • Develops strong client relationships. • Contributes to the development of new initiatives and methodologies. • Experience of developing and training junior members of a team, including conducting appraisals and performance reviews. • Creates an environment that supports and encourages innovation and flexibility. • Manages client and partner expectations through effective communication. • Strong self-management and team organisation skills. • Applies industry specific knowledge to client benefit. • Experience in Financial services would be desirable. • Restructuring experience would be preferable. • Ability to work as a team as well as manage projects independently. • Promotes the firm’s values and beliefs, demonstrating integrity and maintaining an ethical stance, using flexibility and tact to express views as necessary. • Experience in the use of the Capital IQ and Bloomberg databases • Strong computer skills, in particular, Microsoft Excel,PowerPoint and Word. • Second language is preferable. • Immediately available.
