Overview
One of the Country's leading Financial Services organisations is currently looking for a strong IDS/IPS focused Security Engineer to join their Cyber Security team on a contract basis inside IR35. This role will involve project implementation as per cyber security architecture standards within the infrastructure platforms across Networks, Compute, Storage, Cloud and EUC. The Security engineer will be required to work closely with internal teams to support the implementation of IPS/IDS working alongside the wider global security operations centre, security operations & networks teams to support solution adoption. The role holder will be expected to participate in other network security activity as required. Key Responsibilities Work with Infrastructure/solution architects and engineering teams to understand solution implementation requirements to deliver security projects Align with projects and assist in the solution design of new technologies being introduced to the portfolio to meet the functional needs of the business, leveraging the significant investments that have already been made where possible. Provide inputs for solution architecture designs to implement solutions Produce Knowledge Transfer material related to the team's processes. Evangelise solution security as an enabler. Perform hands-on Security Testing, as and if required. Partner with the Business and Technology Teams to document their requirements related to security products deployment and working with the Technology organisation to deliver those requirements. Key Skills: Designing, deploying and operating mainstream IDS/IPS vendors platforms and management infrastructure in line with general industry best practices. Integrating of SIEM and other security solution integrations where relevant. IDS/IPS policy definition and tuning. Network tapping, aggregation and regeneration solutions. Network security monitoring technologies. Network and network security engineering experience. Network packet capture and protocol analysis. Strong understanding of network protocols. Clear & concise documentation skills essential. Engineering sustainable solutions and processes for the long term. Evidencing control effectiveness on a continuous basis. Familiarity with NIST CSF and CIS Framework. Strong understanding of modern attacker techniques, tools and procedures balanced with experience in modern implementable approaches to defence. Denial of service mitigation strategies and experience of attack mitigation. On-premise and cloud solutions. Strong communication skills and stakeholder management are a must alongside demonstrable technical expertise. You will be expected to act as an evangelist with a significant interest in taking ownership of the project areas you are responsible for.
