For more information: www.vitol.com About the role The Investment Analyst position is a key role on the Vitol E&P desk, enabling strong candidates to get immersed in a Profit and Loss driven environment, utilize their core analytical skills to help evaluate new business opportunities and continuously monitor Vitol’s existing E&P business metrics. The role also involves significant collaboration with other desks (e.g. West Africa trade, Finance and Investments) to provide expert due diligence support on new business opportunities. Vitol’s E&P Business is geographically and culturally diverse with both operated, non operated and jointly operated assets in Ghana, Cote D’Ivoire and Ukraine. Furthermore, the desk supports the trade desk on business dealings in the FSU and other parts of West Africa. Therefore, the role requires a candidate that has experience of working overseas/ working with local offices, ideally with language skills that are a fit with the locations of these businesses. Primary responsibilities Responsibilities include: Evaluate new business development opportunities in Exploration and Production, including, but not limited to Africa (e.g. Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria) and CIS/FSU (e.g. Ukraine); Analyse Production Sharing, Gas Sales, Share Acquisition and other Agreements, building in-house models and auditing and expanding third-party models; Actively participates in acquisition and divestment negotiations and take a lead role where required; Run (and maintain) economic models for current upstream projects; Evaluate and justify capital budgeting; Preparing bids in licensing rounds; Perform comparative analysis of fiscal regimes for early stage screening of new areas for business development; Analysing and structuring financing option for upstream projects; Prepare internal reporting and presentations for the Investment Committee; Work closely with trade and finance desks, providing due diligence support in pre-financing and offtake in the upstream sector. Qualifications and Experience Strong academic record with Bachelors’ degree in a relevant subject is essential; Solid relevant experience in Oil & Gas industry is required; Strong financial analysis and financial modelling skills are essential; Clear understanding of accounting and valuation concepts is essential; Advanced quantitative and analytical capability and comfort with Excel is preferred; Experience in dealing with National Oil Companies and/or Governments is preferred; Excellent attention to detail is required; Fluency in other languages is preferred.
