Overview

Job purpose To join the commercial team based in our Seaham office to support the delivery of the Northumbrian Water framework until the end of 2025. To ensure the successful financial completion of challenging construction projects from contract award through to completion, as a key member of a successful project management team. Responsibilities Working with the site commercial team in the following activities: Subcontract procurement from initial inquiry to placement of order Financial management of subcontractor account from commencement on site to negotiation and agreement of final account Preparation of monthly application for payment to the client and ensuring timely certification and payment Preparation of monthly cost value reconciliation report Preparation of monthly cost and value to complete forecast in conjunction with Site Manager Undertaking contractual notifications, early warnings, compensation events Preparation of final accounts Assisting in cost and risk management Development of supply chain relationships with suppliers and sub-contractors for the benefit of the project and future contracts Awareness of business continuity processes via Line Manager Knowledge skills & experience Essential: Qualification at HND level as a minimum (or equivalent qualification) Comprehensive experience in a similar position with a medium to major size Civil Engineering Contractor Relevant experience on challenging and diverse projects with major clients e.g. Highways England, Water Companies, Petro/Chem Sound commercial/contractual knowledge Experience using NEC family of contracts Valid CSCS card Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint Desirable: BSc Degree in Quantity Surveying (or part completed) Possesses experience working on a Framework or in a collaborative environment Experience in dispute documentation – adjudication / legal Person Good interpersonal and communication skills Ability to use own initiative Good time management Strong attention to detail Strong team-working skills Systematic/organised, enthusiastic, confident, personable Resourceful, reliable Behaviour 1: Supportive of others in their goals Behaviour 2: Trust and respect; deliver your work on time, be open and transparent, respect confidential information Behaviour 3: Challenge constructively Behaviour 4: Issue resolution; embrace issues and try to find solutions but always escalate to leaders when they cannot be resolved Behaviour 5: Innovation and continual improvement; be prepared to explore new opportunities, voice your ideas and be creative Behaviour 6: Engagement; listen, communicate, respond promptly Behaviour 7: Accountability; take responsibility for your actions, understand your job role
