Senior Information Governance Officer / London / Six-month contract Your new company The devolved regional governance body of London is looking to recruit a Senior Information Governance Officer to support the GLA's compliance with the Freedom of Information Act and other information compliance regimes. Your new role The Senior Information Governance Officer will be responsible for the following; Provide expert advice and support on a wide range of Freedom of Information and Information Access issues, liaising with the Information Governance Manager as required. Provide comprehensive advice to GLA staff and teams to encourage and develop compliance with obligations under the GDPR and UK Data Protection and support the GLA Data Protection Officer. Assist in the development and maintenance of internal guidance on Information Governance policies, processes and procedures at the GLA. Maintain awareness of current issues by keeping up to date with developments in Freedom of Information, data protection and related areas. Participate, with the Information Governance Manager and colleagues, in the GLA Technology Group, in work to promote effective records and information management practices Coordinate maintenance of the GLA's publicly-available Publication Scheme System database, including promoting and developing the system. Compile, analyse and distribute statistical information on Freedom of Information and information compliance within the GLA and across the GLA Group, including performance monitoring indicators. Manage staff and resources allocated to the job in accordance with the Authority's policies and Code of Ethics and Standards. What you'll need to succeed My client is looking for the following skills and experience; Experience of working with UK information access legislation - in particular, the Freedom of Information Act and Environment Information Regulations. Experience of working with UK data protection legislation - the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK Data Protection Act 2018. Well-developed IT skills in Microsoft Office software applications, particularly Word and Excel. Experience in a Local Authority background. Experience in Data / Legislation / Compliance. What you'll get in return This is a full time six-month contract position. The role is paying in the range of £200/day - £400/day.
