ISIS Neutron and Muon Source is based at the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire and is a world-leading centre for research in the physical and life sciences. About The Role We now have an exciting opportunity at the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source for an experienced Technical Manager to lead a multi-disciplined team of 10 people, consisting of Mechanical Installation and maintenance, Ancillary Plant and multi-disciplined Technicians. The team has responsibility for the installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance and repair of all the mechanical systems and equipment relating to the ISIS particle accelerator. You will be responsible for leading and overseeing the maintenance work of the team, ensuring that all of the mechanical systems and equipment related to the accelerator (and other areas of ISIS) are maintained to be fully operational and minimise ISIS downtime. Further responsibilities will include: · Contributing in the planning and co-ordination of the facility’s maintenance and shutdown programs · Supervising the work of the Group’s Mechanical maintenance program ensuring all work is carried out safely and with regard to the operational programs · Management of the CMMS for the group ensuring all assets and work requests are managed effectively and efficiently · Responsibility for the legionella risk across ISIS and the water safety plan, keep documentation up to date with legislation and ensure proper training is maintained. · Progress the implementation of the group’s obsolescence work programs and sustainability strategy with the Group leader — to include vacuum and ancillary plant systems. About You You will have an HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering along with experience working on Accelerators or similar facilities. You will have proven successful management and installation of projects or programs, and successful leadership of a group of staff is essential. You should also have successfully completed (or be willing to complete) both leadership/management training as well as relevant safety training. You will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a highly organised approach to work, be self-motivated, innovative and inquisitive, with an ability to multi-task and prioritise against a heavy workload and achieve demanding targets.
