Overview

Function Overview The IT Department is responsible for providing technology and support to enable fee earners and business services employees to operate efficiently both internally and with their clients. The IT department is comprised of two functions, Customer Services and Technology Services. These two functions work closely together with the shared goal of delivering strategic business value through the application of technology. IT operates as a global team with regional presence in most of our offices. Our centralised IT infrastructure is maintained and managed by Technology Services and Customer Services provides all business facing support and services. Role Overview The candidate will work as a hands-on data integration developer working directly on databases, APIs and back office data management systems. As a data integration developer in our firm, you will: Design and develop data integration pipelines with a focus on long term data architecture Participate in the high level design of processes for governing the identification, collection, and use of firm metadata Take steps to assure metadata accuracy and validity Establish methods and procedures for tracking data quality, completeness, redundancy, and improvement Analyse data sources and determine process/approach for managing them in a central data warehouse and/or API management portal Help in understand reporting requirements, translating them into Database design Design and develop ETL to load the data warehouse and data sources, utilizing reusable design components Tune ETL code for efficiency Map data sources, data movement, interfaces, and analytics, with the goal of ensuring data quality Review and recommend any necessary changes in code written by other database developers Perform unit and integration testing of code to meet requirements and make corrective changes as necessary Key Requirements Intermediate Knowledge of SQL (Server Connections, Queries) Developing point-to-point data integrations generally following the Extract Transform Load pattern (ETL) Developing integrations that allow source data to be exposed via the data integration tool APIs Liaising with requestors to clarify data integration requirements, constraints, challenges (i.e. Information Security concerns), as well as providing timelines for how long development will take Designing the Integration using Visual studio or equivalent Knowledge and undertanding of applying Integration Tool quarterly patches and assisting with regression testing Troubleshooting experience of Integration Tool upgrade/patches Debugging and creating fixes for existing integrations when issues are found Participating in on-call rota Good to have Understanding of Rest API concept and experience in using Web APIs Microsoft SQL Server Experience Knowledge of scripting (JavaScript and/or Python) Knowledge of Project Management (agile working) tools (e.g Jira) Freshfields Overview Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP is a global law firm with a long-standing track record of successfully supporting the world's leading national and multinational corporations, financial institutions and governments on ground-breaking and business-critical mandates. Our services are delivered in a way which supports the global nature of our firm and our clients, enables our fee earners to deliver exceptional service to our clients and to do that in a way which is efficient and effective. Our Centre in Manchester is the first site to be established in the emerging Freshfields Global operating model. Our aspiration is to establish further sites in the US and Asia-Pacific in the coming years.
