Overview

This varied, data focussed role within the transport industry would be an excellent position for someone keen to start their career in data analysis and/or with a passion for transport and a keen interest in data. The focus of the role is on processing and analysing the data that is collected from sensors, lasers and other devices on state-of-the-art road survey vehicles. As well as processing, analysing data and preparing reports of your findings you’ll also get involved in going to sites in the UK where trials using these vehicles are conducted. Depending on your skills and experience you may also get involved in testing equipment on the vehicles, driving the vehicles - and more. Key Duties / Responsibilities · Processing and analysing the data collected from road condition survey vehicles, using bespoke and standard software packages, to calibrate and validate the vehicles for use on our UK roads. · Reporting the results of your data analysis and assessing compliance against detailed specifications. · Helping to organise and run the survey vehicle testing programmes at test tracks around the UK. You may also get involved in s upporting the operation of survey vehicles and survey data collection equipment. Skills & Experience The ideal candidate will enjoy working with data and have a keen eye for detail. Essential skills include: · Experience using standard data analysis tools including Microsoft Excel (e.g. for analysis and presentation of data). · Excellent attention to detail and an interest in identifying and investigating anomalies in data sets. · Experience and/or an interest in learning programming languages for the processing and manipulation of data e.g. SQL, Python · Experience using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for report writing and presentation of results. · Good communication skills with the ability to work both independently and within a team. Desirable would be: · An interest in technology (e.g. vehicle sensors, lasers, GPS, cameras). · A full driving licence. Qualifications The role would suit someone with a keen interest in data processing, analysis and using software tools to manipulate, understand and draw patterns from data.
