Overview

I am working closely with my manufacturing client to recruit an experienced Process Engineer to join the on-site Engineering Projects Team at their busy chemicals plant in Royston, Hertfordshire. Working closely with project engineers, you will have involvement across a diverse portfolio containing a mix of large and small projects. This will include both Front End Engineering Design (FEED) of CAPEX capital projects and the successful delivery of new and existing projects to handover and operation. Process Improvement work will include the replacement and upgrading of vessels, tanks, and associated pipework; integration of increased automation and controls of batch production processes; and ensuring all work complies with legislation and regulatory requirements. You will also have technical accountability for the process safety of projects, complete safety studies (including hazard, protection analysis, safety integrity), and ensure project compliance with company EHS policies and all applicable regulatory standards. Applications are invited from experienced Process Engineers who have previously worked in process improvement / process safety / process design engineer roles within a high-risk manufacturing environment and/or production facility in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, oil & gas, nuclear, chemicals, agro-chemicals, resins, pigments, or similar process-driven industries. COMAH experience would be very beneficial. Applicants must hold a minimum degree in chemical engineering / chemistry / materials science or similar and have the ability to development of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and read Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (PIDs). Candidates must have a proven track record of steering technical teams on successfully delivered process improvement projects, and those with previous brownfield project experience are of particular interest. Previous chemical plant design experience considered desirable includes flammable hazard processes, chemical reactions, fluid mechanics, bulk material handling, mass transfer, combustion, filtration, mixing, drying, and blending. Those with previous experience of process development and/or upscaling from pilot plants are of particular interest. You will need to have the ability to deal with site-based works on a busy 24/7 plant - this includes working with sub-contractors, liaising with other members of the projects and engineering teams, and engaging with other stakeholders within the business such as Production, EHS, etc. You will also be required to travel to another site in Middlesex on occasion so a driving licence would be beneficial.
