Overview

Location: Portishead, Bristol Days & Hours: Support Worker role - Friday, 10am - 3pm. Overtime will be available to cover sickness and annual leave for other team members (typical shifts are Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am - 3pm) and occasionally to cover evening and weekends. Essential - a valid full UK driving licence (endorsements to be disclosed) and use of own car (business insurance will be required) for Support Worker role Essential: Working alongside people with memory impairment/brain injury Desirable : Experience of working with epilepsy (mild and under control with medication) Interviews Week Commencing: As and when applications are received. Start Dat e: ASAP (subject to satisfactory employment checks) Support Worker Role Sam loves bird watching in the garden and is keen on environmental issues including gardening (growing things to eat or use in some way). She also loves to sing and is part of a choir in the local community group which is attended regularly. Other activities she enjoys include; listening to audio books, horse riding which is a weekly event and visiting the local shops on a Friday to buy food for the weekend. Sam enjoys comedy and knowing when her favourite programmes are on the TV. She also like to go to the cinema and to attend the theatre. Sam was born in the 1960s and was involved in a road traffic accident in 1984 which has left her with some memory problems and mild epilepsy, which is under control. Sam is also blind, which can cause limitations in unfamiliar environments. She is fiercely independent but an interesting person with much knowledge about gardening and the environment and will try to recycle wherever possible Sam would like a Support Worker to assist her with accessing the local community and supporting with everyday life as required, this will include shopping, gardening, administrative duties and possibly helping with attendance to medical appointments. There will be other tasks relating to the care and welfare as necessary and appropriate. Structure is important to Sam, so a weekly planner is kept, which the Support Worker will talk through and discuss if anything requires changing, and you will need to ask Sam if they require any help with certain tasks rather than assuming they do. Remuneration £11.50 per hour, Monday to Sunday and Bank Holidays.
