Key Experience: Tier 1 Construction experience, with a construction related Degree or relevant qualification & industry experience A proven project or framework work winner within the civil engineering, infrastructure or build sector Experienced developing new client and building upon current client relationships Able to build a strong pipeline of project opportunities and bring them to the table Understanding construction methodology and business strategy. An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a leading regional contractor, with over 60 years' experience delivering multi-disciplinary projects within the infrastructure, civil engineering and build sectors. Acting as both a Main & Subcontractor, they are based throughout the South East, Southern, South West & Wales regions. Due to continual growth within the South East, they have identified the need to further expand their presence and portfolio within this region, and are actively growing their Work Winning and Pre Construction team. This is the ideal opportunity for any candidate with either business development or industry sales experience, looking to take the next step in their career. Reporting into the Head of Pre-Construction, you will be given the autonomy to grow and develop the role. You will have key interfaces internally with the Preconstruction & Bid team, as well as site delivery teams to identify further opportunities on current projects and frameworks, as well as externally with new and current clients, exhibitions and conference organisation etc. As the ideal candidate you will be responsible for: Identifying and agreeing the regional strategy for identifying current and future Infrastructure, Civil Engineering and associated build project opportunities Managing future project and opportunity pipeline, and supporting the business in securing targeted projects Early identification of target projects in order to develop potential solutions in advance of project being awarded Monitoring the long-term outlook for infrastructure & civil engineering opportunities and projects to signal upturn or downturns in the market as early as possible. Liaising with client bid and procurement teams to build strong long-lasting relationships Assisting the Preconstruction & Bid team in the preparation of bid material, including actual and virtual sales aids tailored for key projects Attending customer briefings and providing detailed presentations to customers and other relevant parties e.g. owners, developers, main contractors etc. Remaining aware of all competitor activity and awards, indirect threats, construction trends, customer preferences etc. PC literate with good knowledge MS Office and presentation software Strategic Construction Industry marketing and sales experience Knowledge of sales and/or and construction industry project databases Personal attributes: Excellent written and interpersonal skills and the ability to challenge constructively Confident and assertive with a self-motivated approach and flexible attitude A professional approach that generates credibility and confidence in others Comfortable presenting to senior level client representatives Effective team working and networking skills, and the ability to work independently using own initiative Effective time management skills
