Data Centre Operations Engineer We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Centre Engineer to join a blue chip organisation in Birmingham. Key requirements for a Data Centre Operations Engineer are provided below. Has experience of working for a colocation data centre or managed services provider Able to rack, stack and cable IT equipment to a high standard considering best practices. Able to lift 50lbs and is aware of manual handling guidelines. A keen problem solver who can use their experience and analytical skills to troubleshoot common customer intelligent hands (aka remote hands & eyes) requests (hardware faults, connectivity loss in copper and fibre cabling, power issues). Experience of using ITSM tools such as ServiceNow or Remedy. Able to work shifts and be on call if required (nights and weekends) Strong communication skills and customer facing presence. Able to work in a focused manner and under pressure. Any experience of IBM AS400/iSeries operations would be beneficial not essential. Able to follow instructions from a technical direction Basic PC skills (Word & Excel) Common sense approach The working pattern will be 07:00-19:00 four days on, four days off. In an emergency, night shifts are from 19:00 to 07:00, but cover would be asked for by existing team first.
