Overview

Our client is a consumer goods business and are the absolute market-leaders at what they do. They create a products that are tailor made for each customer, using only the best material that is long lasting and the highest quality. With over 30 years of experience, the business employ over 500 people globally, with 250 in the UK. The business have a revenue of over £300m and are now hiring their first centralised procurement professional who can manage their global packaging spend. Flexible location, with two/three days per week in the South East / London area. Description This newly created role will be to manage the strategic procurement function, ensuring best practice purchasing and supplier relationship of a variety of packaging materials (paper, corrugated, card, foil, plastics…). This role will be responsible for developing and implementing a global procurement strategy for the business across all 12 sites within Europe. It will be vital that you are able to work to negotiate on major contracts with suppliers, as well as having day to day working with internal stakeholders. The role will also include: Strategic responsibility for all raw material buying. Lead, coach and develop a team of local buyers across Europe. Implement a procurement best practice strategy into the business. Assume responsibility for the development and execution of a global procurement strategy that supports the goals and objectives of the company and its customers To drive continuous improvement, best value and quality improvements in challenging existing practices and actively seek ways to achieve better outcomes Manage relationships with high level suppliers and develop new relationships with new suppliers Monitor fluctuation in raw material pricing to identify any cost risk or opportunities to the business Profile Ideal Candidate: 8 years in packaging procurement within an FMCG or manufacturing business Experience managing a team of buyers Strong project management skills International sourcing experience Self-motivated and proactive, enjoy working under pressure Excellent communication, presentations and interpersonal skills Experience implementing 'procurement best practice' Membership of CIPS is beneficial Mandarin speaking would be beneficial Job Offer £65,000 to £75,000 plus benefits package and bonus Flexible location, with two/three days per week in the South East / London area.
