Head of ICT & Digital Permanent Watford £50,311 Location Allowance Excellent Benefits Package A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a candidate with proven experience to lead the digital service transformation of a well-known, thriving charity. This position has been created through growth and will be pivotal in ensuring the charity continues to strive forward at pace. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the strategic development and operational management of Information Technology. This will include the oversight of external IT contractors plus the identification and implementation of all digital engagement tools and systems within the charity, in collaboration with relevant service Heads. As a member of the Senior Management Team, working with the charity’s Trustees, the postholder will also contribute to the development of vision, direction and operational management of the charity as a whole. The successful candidate will have the credibility to represent the charity externally at senior levels. They are looking for an extensive and varied array of skills, knowledge and experience. The postholder will: Work together with other key staff and take the lead for identifying business processes that would be more efficiently delivered by technology. Ensure the efficient gathering of relevant data and insights and translate these into clear actions to improve and transform the customer experience. Set up and / or enable the setting up and launching of new platforms and the running of pilot projects with service users. Take responsibility for the research, design, development/implementation and delivery of the ICT & Digital Strategy, ensuring a high-quality, sustainable provision that meets the needs of staff, volunteers and service users in a safe and secure fashion. Play a lead role in identifying new tools and systems that bring demonstrable benefits or cost savings to the charity. Lead the process for evaluating all ICT applications to ensure that the organisation benefits from their functionality and minimise functionality duplication. Explore options to demonstrate the robustness of the charity’s data security by achieving and retaining Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO27001. Assume overall operational management of external IT contractors to ensure that value for money and secure operating practices are in place at all times. Identify and procure appropriate training to ensure that staff are equipped to make the best use of the ICT applications at their disposal. Act as a critical ally to the super users of all the organisation’s delivery systems, seeking economies of scale, effort and cost where possible and enhancing user interfaces. To be considered, candidates should have the following knowledge, skills, qualifications and experience: Relevant professional qualification and ideally membership of a relevant body or equivalent. Detailed knowledge and understanding of Information Technology infrastructure and digital service delivery for the enhancement of front-line activities. Understanding of the process of system implementation from feasibility through to completion. Experience of delivering multiple and varied end to end IT solutions across digital, infrastructure and applications. Experience of whole solution architecture concepts (back end, front end and applications) with the ability to communicate and negotiate these internally and externally. Experience with public cloud platforms, such as AWS and Azure, including SaaS and PaaS offerings. Senior strategic management experience of growth and development of services where customer voice and satisfaction are key to success. The ability to manage complex budgets across multiple sites, systems and services. Strong understanding of organisational culture, development and effective change management. Good understanding of governance relations and experience of reporting to committees, trustee boards and stakeholders. The ability to manage team dynamics, positively influence and secure cross departmental buy-in. Excellent numeracy skills sufficient to facilitate the monitoring of expenditure and providing performance reporting. Interest and experience of working within the Housing Association, Charity or similar sector. Experience of procurement, purchasing services and evidencing value for money. Experience of establishing and developing partnerships with agencies in the statutory and not-for-profit sectors. Experience of working within an environment with strict brand guidelines and corporate message. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, across a variety of different communication channels. Collaborative and approachable when working to achieve shared and organisational level goals. Mobile with own vehicle and willingness to work across all divisional areas of the organisation. This is a huge and exciting role, which requires an ability to move at pace. Whilst at all times being diligent and detail focused, and at all times working centrally and cohesively as part of a truly client and mission focused organisation. It is a 37.5 hour working week (Monday to Friday) with flexibility required in order to best suit the needs of the business. Please note that this charity has a Christian ethos.
