Overview
Bookkeeper / Company Accountant £28,000 - £35,000 Sheffield Immediate start. Owner-managed SME based on the outskirts of the city centre have an immediate requirement for a hands-on Bookkeeper / Company Accountant. You will be responsible for the day to day financial reporting and management for this friendly and longstanding smaller business (£2m turnover). This is a down to earth, professional and growing business in the engineering sector. They are looking for an experienced accountant (ideally AAT qualified as a minimum). The business use Sage and previous exposure to the system would be highly beneficial. You will manage the purchase ledger clerk / accounts assistant (both of whom have been with the business more than 5 years). The business currently has support from the external accountant (once quarterly) if required. The remit will include: All aspects of the day to day financial management and reporting for the business. Ensuring month end is managed sensibly. Production of accurate accounts (to trial balance). Accruals, prepayments and journals. Balance sheet reconciliation and bank reconciliation. VAT returns. Overall control of purchase ledger, sales ledger and payroll. Ad hoc reporting of sales and costs. You will ideally: Have experience of bookkeeping for a smaller business. Be comfortable producing management accounts for director level review. Be extremely hands on in your approach. Have experience of Sage packages. Have completed AAT or equivalent. Be able to start immediately and commit to an interim assignment (12 months). If you are a confident and experienced Bookkeeper able to start a new assignment at relatively short notice I would welcome the chance to speak ASAP.
