Director of Procurement - circa £80,000 (Including market supplement) plus excellent benefits The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is one of the UK’s largest universities with a student and staff community approaching 38,000. The main campus is based in Preston, with others located in Burnley (East Lancashire), Westlakes (West Cumbria) and Cyprus. UCLan is a global institution, with staff representing over 200 countries across the world as they lead the way in modern learning. The University have recently undergone a review of its Procurement capabilities and operating model, and has subsequently put forward an exciting 3 year transformation programme. As part of this transformation, UCLan are in search of an outstanding Director of Procurement to lead the transformation from a transactional ‘tendering team’ into a commercially focused, centrally coordinated, leading edge ‘Procurement Services’ function; becoming an integral and valued (internal and external) strategic partner with increased execution capability. Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, the post holder will manage and embed a new team (17 in total through 6 direct reports) and operating model that is both fit for purpose and drives value for money. Responsible for current addressable spend of circa £TBC million, your duties will include: Developing and implementing a new 3-year Procurement Strategy for 2020-23 Implementing a common strategic approach for all tendering activity and a common approach to support devolved Contracts Management and improved Supplier relationship management Adopting improved commercial governance and approving the formal adoption of a new eSourcing Suite To succeed you must be MCIPS qualified, a proven leader with a track record in change management and have the ability to inspire and motivate your teams to deliver improved performance. This experience could have been gained within any sector. You will be results orientated with exceptional communication and influencing skills will enable you to build sustainable and productive relationships with a range of stakeholders, and the energy and resilience to ensure these ambitious plans become reality.
