The Opportunity: We are looking for a Graduate Software Engineer who is passionate about technology and excited about the goals of our company . We don’t provide you with a specific programme like large organisations - but we do provide you with a fantastic degree of flexibility to get involved in all aspects of our development from design, algorithm creation, cloud, Android/iOS and embedded systems. The ideal candidate will have some C++ experience gained either through university or self-taught and also will have previously worked with Python, OOP and UNIX systems. We give you the autonomy to learn and develop within our organisation and so a proactive approach is key. Holding regular 121s, attending monthly socials and a range of lunch & learn sessions are just a few ways in which socialisation and personal development go hand in hand. Key Responsibilities: Design, code, test, document, amend and refactor software Apply agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered outcome Participate in our software design, planning and work tracking processes Participate in our code review processes Your Experience Essential Good undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or Physics or relevant experience Good programming skills in scripting languages (e.g. Python) and systems languages (e.g. C++) Fam iliarity with common data structures and algorithms Familiarity with UNIX systems and command line tools Proactive, inquisitive and a passion for problem solving Desirable Experience using version control systems Contribution to open source software projects Familiarity with continuous integration systems e.g. jenkins Experience of scientific programming such as signal processing, numerical methods such as optimisation and linear-algebra Experience developing software libraries or APIs for use by other developers An interest in distributed systems, such as Kubernetes Experience of developing using cloud services e.g. Google Cloud Platform or AWS Your Development and Perks Your development is equally important as our business growth and we offer opportunities including appraisals, career development plans, training courses, feedback sessions through 1-2-1 meetings, knowledge-sharing and cross-training.
