Overview
We have an amazing opportunity for a Graduate Embedded Systems Engineer to join a small, but growing team based just north of Cambridge. If you have a passion for technology, you'll fit in well with this team of geeks. You'll be able to advance your career quickly with the mentorship of an experienced team around you and given the chance to work across a range of technologies including embedded hardware and software, radio, communication stacks and physical layers and the entire product life cycle from concept through production and into deployment. The company specialise in cellular and bespoke communication markets through in-house development of software defined radio hardware, physical layers and protocol stack software. They provide innovative solutions for some really exciting markets. Their products include LTE, UMTS and GSM small cells using their own SDR platform. They also undertake contract design and development projects based on their extensive SDR knowledge and IP. We're looking for someone who has recently attained, or expect to attain, a good degree in Electronic Engineering, Computing, or similar, and have a keen interest in mobile communications and radio systems. We will also consider candidates who have a couple of years' industry experience. You can expect to quickly gain responsibility for activities in a range of technologies, in an environment where you are mentored by experienced engineers. Day to day activities might include: System design, including gaining an appreciation of cellular and other specifications Embedded system design, typically C/C++ on an embedded Linux platform Protocol stack development, again in C/C++ Physical layer algorithm development, often in Verilog on an FPGA RF board level design and test Design and development of a range of tools for use in-house and by customer Development and execution of product test Qualifications, Skills and Experience: Excellent qualification in Electronic Engineering or a comparable discipline from an excellent university Good A Levels; typically Mathematics and Physics included Proficient in C/C++ Comfortable communicating and collaborating within a small team Knowledge of at least some of the following areas is likely to beneficial: Digital communication systems. Mobile telephony systems, such as 5GNR, LTE, UMTS and GSM. Digital Signal Processing. Operating system kernel and device drivers. Linux system administration. Open Source project interaction or contribution.
