Depot Manager Location: Gloucester Salary: £35,000 - 45,000 About the company: The client is a family run company who have been operating since 1982. They are now one of the largest construction and waste companies in the South West. Due to their growth they are now looking to bring in a Site Supervisor to join the team in Gloucester. We are looking for a suitable candidate to manage the operations and staff at the depot whilst fully trained and supported by the divisions Operational Manager. The successful candidate will have managerial experience and knowledge of the Waste industry. This is a full time role and would suit an organised yet motivated individual. Job Purpose: To plan, lead, organise and control the profitable operation of the MRF/Transfer Station in accordance with legislation, Company policy and procedures. To ensure cost are strictly controlled in line with budget targets. To effectively manage the Depot in line with agreed targets To ensure compliance with the Company’s Safety Policy, the Health and Safety at Work Act, and where relevant all other associated legislation. Responsibilities and Duties: To develop an understanding of the operational issues within the Depot and progressively develop a plan and implement change to improve the management, cost control and profitability of the Depot. Overall responsibility for all environmental matters within the Depot and liaison with the Environment Agency, in support of the Waste Divisional Manager. Overall responsibility for all health & safety within the above Depot and liaison with the HSE, in support of the Company Group Health & Safety Manager. Ensuring that all operations are carried out in a safe, economical and timely manner in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures. Ensure that all operations on site are conducted in a safe manner and that all Depot staff have received adequate training for the job they are required to do. Identify areas where training is required and maintain a record of training received. Review training requirements on an annual basis and make recommendations as necessary to the Waste Divisional Manager. Oversee the transportation of waste to ensure that it takes place efficiently without contaminating air, land or water sources. Ensure the quality and performance of recycling. To review and report on monthly cost statements produced for the Depot by the Finance Division along with variance reporting and statistical analysis and to ensure that the necessary internal Depot controls required for monitoring are in place. To develop an understanding of the operational issues within the Depot and progressively develop a plan and implement change to improve the management, cost control and profitability of the Depot. Qualification and Skills: Experience of the waste management industry is essential. You will be required to be the Technical Competence Manager (TCM) for the Depot and therefore will need to have a Certificate of Technical Competence (COTC). You will also be required to maintain an up to date operational knowledge of waste recycling best practice. Coupled to the above experience of the following would be preferred, however, not essential for the right candidate. Crushing and screening Wood recycling Ferrous/Non Ferrous operation. Materials Recycling Facility operation. ELV [ATF].
