Overview
A new opportunity for an Operational Buyer / Material Controller has arisen for a global manufacturer with sites across various countries. The Buyer is a critical role in the supply chain team, responsible for the management of direct materials to support the Production Plan, whilst maintaining agreed inventory levels and budgetary cost control. Based in the Huddersfield, Dewsbury area, the business offers the opportunity to aspiring procurement and supply chain professionals to progress their career within the business. They're seeking an individual that's ambitious and driven to achieve results, as well as progress their career. Key Responsibilities: Liaise with Production and Planning departments to avoid manufacturing delays. Monitor and control inventory levels in line with agreed budget. Provide detailed supplier raw material forecasts - medium / long term. Procurement of material to achieve cost down opportunities. Highlight and report "Material Usage" variances to the business. Vendor appraisal / management against ISO9001-2014 metrics (including scorecards). Support Production control / Purchasing functions as necessary to cover holidays and absence. Investigate stock discrepancies and improve the accuracy of information. Required Skills and Experience: Experience within production planning and procurement of materials within a high volume manufacturing environment. Able to analyse complex data to ensure optimisation of manufacturing constraints. Previous experience with SAP. Excellent proficiency in the use of office products (predominantly Excel). Approachable and adaptable to change. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Proactive and autonomous. Previous experience within a comparable role. Experience in working collaboratively and cross-functionally. Strong analytical skills. Detailed knowledge of demand planning and forecasting processes. The ability to work to strict deadlines and with a high attention to detail. The ability to effectively prioritise own workload.
