Overview

Support Worker Location: Cumbernauld. Salary: £9.00 per hour. Contract: Part time, 21 hours per week. Do you have experience working in social care? Are you looking for a challenging but equally rewarding role, where you will help supported individuals to live their best life possible? We are currently looking to recruit an experienced support worker to join our support services in the Cumbernauld area. Specifically, you will work with a young adult who has learning difficulties, complex communication and health needs, including epilepsy. The person supported is a wheelchair user and is supported by two members of staff. To meet the needs and agreed outcomes of the person supported, you will work closely with their family and support team to provide a person-centred package of care. The team offers support to access a range of meaningful activities including sensory and music sessions, bowling, shopping, having lunch out, as well as opportunities to socialise with friends and other young adults. The person supported has their own car, so a full driving licence is essential for this role. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced staff and have access to training and management support 24 hours per day, as well as individual supervision and team meetings. This role could be for you if you: • Believe passionately in the rights of people with disabilities to live valued lives • Have excellent communication skills • Have a strong work ethic and are a team player • Are professional and can deal with queries in a diplomatic and confidential manner • Have a flexible attitude to working hours and can commit working on a rota basis that is out with the norm • Are educated to GCSE level (or equivalent by experience) • Are comfortable and confident in using a computer and are IT literate • Have a willingness to learn and to get the most out of any training provided • Have an understanding of Scottish Social Service Council (SSSC) and care standards within Scotland • Have a good knowledge of services Sense Scotland provide and hold strong values Closing date for application is Wednesday 18th March 2020.
