We are now excited to be recruiting for an Occupational Therapist If you would like to bring your expertise and work as part of a new team within a fantastic environment, then we would like to hear from you. We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team and provide valuable support for residents at our new modern Solihull Retirement Village (Opening 2021). You will provide practical support to help older people living with dementia and will be required to work 22.5 hours per week . This is a fixed term contract until January 2021. You will receive a competitive rate of £14.50 p/hr ( Full Time Equivalent £28,275), plus an excellent benefits package which includes; 33 days holiday per year (FTE / pro rata) Employee Assistance Programme Pension scheme including Life assurance Free on-site gym membership Role Overview As the Occupational Therapist for the Dementia Home First Service you will be an essential part of providing practical support to help older people living with dementia to carry out everyday tasks or occupations as independently as possible in their own home. This will be achieved through creating individual treatment programmes and changes to the client’s environment which may include use of equipment. The role has four clear functions which include: Initial assessment - Contributing to the decision if the client is suitable for the service and can return to their home in the community safely and identify any risks to returning home that require alleviation. Intervention - Supporting the client for the duration of their intervention to help rebuild lost skills and restore confidence. Discharge Planning - Working with the Dementia and Mental Wellbeing Enabler, Social Worker and partner care organisation to ensure that a long-term plan for the clients care and support is in place for when the six-week intervention ends. Reporting - Contributing to the completion of a casefile for each client support through the service that clearly describes the interventions used to improve wellbeing and any outcomes achieved. Our ideal Occupational Therapist will have: Completed a 3-year BSc in Occupational Therapy Registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) Have previously supervised frontline staff working with people living with dementia and or transient or long-term mental health conditions To have experience of managing your own caseload of clients Experience of completing risks assessments The ability to explain, encourage and build confidence, and develop rapport with your clients Decision making skills and the ability to organise and plan your workload Assessment and report writing skills Team working skills, as you will often liaise with other professionals such as doctors and social workers A genuine commitment to equal opportunities by their promotion and application in the workplace and in relation to residents and the wider community through creating an inclusive environment We are incredibly proud of what we do and would love you to join us Click ‘apply’ now to make a difference to the lives of older people as our Occupational Therapist This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/89743544
