Engineering Technician (Chemical )
Overview
The engineering technician team supports the activities with machine installations, equipment builds, service, and maintenance. It is a multi-skilled team able to cover a wide range of disciplines such as electrical installations, control systems, vacuum technology, hydraulics, and pneumatics. As a part of this team, you will be working with many types of scientific and engineering equipment and get to know the extreme engineering required to produce our clients materials .This role offers variation and the opportunity to develop a broad skill set within multiple disciplines in a scientific environment. With requirements changing as the research advances, Duties and tasks As a technician, primary responsibilities include: - Undertaking site maintenance repairs and installation work. - Fault finding and problem solving of processing equipment. - Servicing of equipment and verification of performance. - Assisting research projects with advice, expertise, and hands-on assistance. - Setting up tooling and jigging. - Updating drawings and documentation for experimental equipment. - Understanding and maintaining Gas technology and Processes. - Maintaining a clean and safe working environment, ensuring best practice in the experimental work. - Actively seek to develop depth and breadth of skills. Criteria skills - Experience of working in a chemical laboratory and the use of strong acids, including hydrofluoric acid. NVQ, HNC, BTec or similar qualifications in an engineering-based discipline. - Be self-motivated, with the ability to work alone under Permitted equipment and areas. - A knowledge of running and maintaining electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, or vacuum systems (the wider the skill set, the better). - Experience of working in a cleanroom environment. - An understanding of calibration and preventive maintenance in a laboratory environment. - Ability to carry out risk assessments and write safe operating procedures for laboratory procedures and equipment usage. - Excellent general understanding of health and safety standards as well as quality procedures.
