Overview

Senior Mechanical Engineer Team Leader required near Maidstone, Kent. Our client is part of a global process manufacturing group, specialising in environmental fibre based recycling and packaging. Responsible for the mechanical engineering personnel in the Engineering department. A particularly strong focus on driving a reliability and preventative maintenance culture across the site through strong enforced engineering standards, criticality assessment and best engineering practices and continuous improvement. Working closely with operations to determine causes of problems and their solutions through a variety of problem solving techniques to achieve Operational Excellence. Some of which will require the justification, the request and coordinated implementation of small projects which reinforce site engineering standards. This is a key maintenance leader position, looking towards the longer term objective of reliable and efficient operational systems and plant process equipment. There will be a requirement to also respond to out of hour's breakdowns that have an immediate effect on plant safety; environmental release or plant performance. Senior Mechanical Engineer candidate requirements: Mechanical Engineering qualification Team management experience gained from heavy engineering / manufacturing environment e.g. paper Continous Improvement / Lean mind-set Experience of site quality, health & safety requirements Responsibilities for Mechanical Engineer will include: Proactive and preventative maintenance requirements across the site and to set and enforce site mechanical engineering standards. Manage, support and encourage reliability throughout the engineering department by being responsible for the longer term maintenance and improvements of the plant and associated equipment. Ensure that a site wide lubrication system is in place to deliver the right quantity and right type of lubricant at the correct frequency and that records of such are kept. Use equipment manuals, best practice guidance, drawings and other technical data to ensure site engineering standards are in place. Ensure engineering standards are in place for in-house or third part engineering equipment supply or repair. To initiate criticality assessments for new plant and equipment. Working with the Planner, Engineering Scheduler and the Engineering Stores Controller to ensure the correct bills of material, spares and quantities are in place.
