Overview

Little Acorn Services (LAS) provides support and accommodation to young people aged 16-18 who are looked after by the Local Authority. We are dedicated to providing a supportive, needs-based, individual service to young people in care, which develops their independent life skills and self-confidence within society. We have five houses in Hayes, Uxbridge and Hounslow which are covered by staff 24/7. We require full-time and part-time support workers who can work shifts including day, evenings, weekends, split shifts and sleep-ins. Our supported living and outreach services require robust, flexible and committed individuals to provide person centred support and care to our service users. You’ll provide high quality and nurturing key work support to 16-18 year old young people who are vulnerable and who may have experienced or are at risk of abuse. Responsibilities: · Providing high levels of day-to-day care and support and being a key worker to the young people. Empowering and encouraging them to progress and develop independent living skills. · Keep accurate records including missing reports, daily logs, health and safety and incident reports. · Writing monthly reports and chronologies on your key children. Carrying out and documenting regular key working sessions with the young people. · Exercise vigilance in respect of Health and Safety and Safeguarding, promptly reporting all hazards/incidents. Undertakes all duties in a accordance with LAS Health and Safety/Safeguarding Policies and Procedures. Key Skills · NVQ level 3 in Children and young people (Or QCF or Diploma Level 3 for the Children and Young Peoples Workforce) or willing to work towards this (training can be offered). · Excellent communication skills and the ability to form positive relationships with children and young people · Empathetic and understanding · Highly motivated, adaptable and able to work under their own initiative · Experience with working with children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties and knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
