Overview
Health Safety & Environmental Advisor Based in East London, E10 Up to £45K About Company: With a clear vision to deliver what they promise for their people and clients, being one of the country’s largest utility joint ventures consisting of two leading UK contractors, they have formed to deliver a contract awarded by Thames Water for the AMP6 period in 2015 with a value of £500 Million. Works are now in preparation for the AMP7 period as it’s about to start with possibilities for works to continue beyond that also. They now have an opportunity for a Health Safety & Environmental Advisor to join them to deliver excellence in the application of health and safety in the workplace. As a Health Safety & Environmental Advisor you will be required to have excellent communication skills in English both written and verbal. This is to be able to report back to the Management team. Key Accountabilities of role: - The HSE Advisor will be advising supervisors, team leaders and teams in the field of statutory health and safety requirements. - You will also be regularly inspecting work locations and activities and prepare and submit inspections in a timely manner -Conduct investigations of accidents delivering brief root cause analysis and recommendations to prevent re-occurrence. - Encourage the report of near misses through proactive engagement with operatives and supervisors - Suggest, communicate and promote initiatives for accident prevention. - Ensure actions from investigations are acted upon and close out the report in a timely manner. Skills required: - NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate as a minimum - Computer literate with experience of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook - NRSWA Supervisor (desirable) - Tech IOSH as a minimum working towards Grad IOSH (or better) - Experience in construction (utilities desirable) Ideal HSE Advisor: - Will have working knowledge of the current UK Health and Safety legislation and best practice. - Knowledge of a variety of occupational health risk environments, such as confined spaces - Knowledge of the properties, handling and storage of corrosives, contaminates and flammables - Knowledge of safety devices to use in conjunction with tools and equipment in the workplace - Ability to evaluate safe practices, procedures, programmes, attitudes and awareness and to recommend methods of improvement. - Ability to evaluate safety practices, procedures, programmes, attitudes, and awareness and to recommend methods of improvement The chosen Health and Safety Advisor will receive a salary of up to £45,000
