Overview

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the delivery of multiple projects, establishing and operating commercial processes and procedures designed to mitigate risk, maximise opportunity and ultimately protect revenue. You will understand procurement, tendering, reporting, and have an ability to manage change. You must be able to demonstrate an ability to work effectively in a client facing environment. Highly organised, you must have strong oral & written communication/ presentation skills, be articulate together with being a self-starter. You will possess good time management and record keeping skills.Pre-Con PhaseSupport Major Projects Sales Team(s) in reviewing proposed contracts to ensure optimum risk allocation and compliance with Company Policy. Understand and input into the Due Diligence processes and liability risk assessment on current and future projectsConstruction PhaseAssist in the financial management of Contractors/Clients as well as Sub-Contractors and Suppliers and ensuring cashflow forecasting is prepared and monitored closely including the billing/payment and change management.Attend CA reviews as required with Finance and Operations in order to proactively identify any risks and drive necessary commercial governance to ensure that the profitability of each project is maintained.Support the PMs with Main Contractors' communications and address them accordingly by liaising with the necessary member(s) of the team, ensuring that contractual timelines and obligations are adhered to and seeking to drive any opportunities for added value.Preparing and inputting into reports such as liability/risk statements, cost to complete and cost value reconciliations.Evaluating and advising on financial implications of potential decisions/directionsUnderstand and aid the team with conflict avoidance, management and resolution processes and be willing to learn about negotiation, adjudication & litigation. This includes the compiling of evidence for use in the dispute resolution processInterface with design from inception to completion, reporting on the impact of different design solutions and construction processes on cost, programme and quality.Help to advise the team of their contractual rights and obligationsCompletion PhaseWork alongside the PM's in securing completion and possession issues and input into assessments on entitlement of Extension of Time and Loss and Expense.Enabling the successful closure of Final Accounts, including the management of any outstanding debt as well as ensuring that the risk of disputes is minimised and managed through, with internal and external stakeholders as required.Skills Required:Basic working knowledge of JCT &/or NEC forms of Contract and know how to administer contractual mechanisms and procedures at various stages of the Contract.Ability to be a team player and work collaboratively with all disciplines both site and office based.Be flexible in your approach and adaptive to the changing business environment and locations that the organisation operate within.Qualifications/ Experience/Knowledge:Degree in Quantity Surveying, a related discipline, or demonstrable experienceMinimum of 5 years' experience working for a Main Contractor or Sub-ContractorContracts experience to values of up to £10m (or above)Civils/Infrastructure or Rail/M&E (desirable)RICS/CIOB preferred or progression towards it with a drive for CPD
