Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, in Birmingham, £35,000-£45,000 per year. This is a permanent role. Your new company My client is a renowned design, engineering and project management business with a strong presence in Birmingham and across 50 countries worldwide where they employ over 50,000 people. They have a proven background of working on multiple large construction projects across the world and have completed some of the world's most complex projects. Since their 2 billion pound take over, the business has gone from strength to strength and are now looking to expand their engineering department in Birmingham with a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong technical knowledge in the building services industry and a good understanding of working in this type of role previously. The business ideally wants someone who wants to help mentor and develop less experienced members of the team, in the role you will be based within the design department, it will give you the opportunity to work with a wide range of skill sets and both assist in helping others as well as learning yourself. Your new job In the job you will be responsible for the design and project management of different projects across the business's focus areas including: Aviation, Cities & Development, Education, Energy and Transportation. Day to day, your role will include: Design and specification of all Mechanical Building Services systems - heating, cooling, ventilation, controls, etc. Preparing drawings for drafting by the CAD team a working understanding / use of Autodesk (& Revit). Representing the company in client and stakeholder meetings Some travel to other company sites may be required, so you will need to have an element of flexibility with this. Site surveys, inspections and monitor site works Liaise with architects and other designers in interpreting input information and applying it to generate a comprehensive mechanical design Lead and manage your projects independently with little assistance within budget. Comfortable managing own workload and using time effectively What you'll need to succeed The successful engineer will have a proven and experienced background as a Mechanical Design Engineer. They will also display their understanding through an engineering related qualification ideally HNC/degree level and have worked in this type of job before or a similar job including (Senior Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Design Engineer, Mechanical Building Services engineer or Senior Mechanical Design engineer). Previous design experience will be essential, also having a good understanding of building services will be key to do the job well. In your job, you will be using a range of different systems to ensure you can do your work to the highest standards the programmes include: IES thermal modelling package, Hevacomp, NBS and Microsoft packages, Bluebeam, and an understanding of AutoCAD for infrequent use What you'll get in return You will be working for a stable and growing business that are already expanding their portfolio to continue their aim to have a big global presence as well as continuing to expand their business in Birmingham and the UK.
