Due to continued expansion, this company now require a Senior Economic & Political Analyst to join the company’s Business Intelligence Department with a view to supporting senior management and the business units by analysing economic and political situations which could affect business activities within the EMEA-CIS region, and providing relevant information in accordance with their needs. This position is based in London and reporting into the European Department Manager for Business Intelligence. ROLE • Monitor and analyse economic and political situations and foreign affairs within the EMEA-CIS region. • Share intelligence with senior management and business units regarding geopolitical, economic and political situations, as well as country risks within the EMEA-CIS region. • Develop and coordinate information networks with external entities such as think-tanks, universities, governmental institutions and embassies within the EMEA-CIS region to facilitate business activities. • Attend external seminars or symposiums across the region to collect information and develop an information network. • Visit countries throughout the EMEA-CIS region to collect information and extend the company’s information gathering network. • Assist in developing the potential of more junior members of staff of the Department in London and Brussels. SKILLS/PERSONAL QUALITIES • An excellent level of economic, political, international relations and business analytical skills • Regional specialisation in economics and/or international relations • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to meet the needs and understanding of the audience • Logical and critical thinking skills • Ability to collect and disseminate information that will be of benefit to the business • Ability to establish and maintain a wide range of networks • Oral and written fluency in English • Self-driven and proactive • Possesses an intellectual curiosity • Comfortable in dealing with senior management and public speaking • Able to travel regularly within the EMEA-CIS region and engage with a wide range of business stakeholders QUALIFICATIONS • Master’s degree in economics or International Relations This would be an ideal opportunity for a candidate with experience in working at a senior level in a think tank, university or research department, such as in a global industrial or financial institution. Experience in writing analytical research reports is essential. This role requires a ‘senior’ analyst who has the potential to progress to a higher level. In addition the successful candidate will have the ability to do on the ground research and can bring with them a network of contacts and information sources.
