ARCHITECTURAL TECHNICIAN/TECHNOLOGIST Job Type: Permanent Hours of work: 7 hours per day / 35 hours per week Monday to Friday Time: Between 9:30 am and 5:30 pm with one hour for lunch Reports to: Architectural and Building Surveying Directors My client is a multi-disciplinary practice of chartered surveyors and property consultants in central London. Job Outline To undertake all associated duties as deemed necessary by the company to provide support and carry out to cover the full range of hands on property management activities including but not limited to: Working with commercial clients in central London, on repeat and portfolio management type work. Commercial refurbishment projects – Offices and residential conversions Working in a larger team of consultants, including planners, agents, engineers and surveyors Working on a mixture of different scaled projects simultaneously Measure premises Prepare scheme design drawings Prepare drawings for planning and Listed Building applications Develop detail designs Develop construction details Understand technical standards, regulatory frameworks and health safety and the requirements for their implementation Building Regulations applications Develop specifications Provide architectural advice Provide support to job runner Liaise with and take instructions from Director or project runners in programming workload Coordinate information for issuing out of office as necessary Liaison with other consultants Designer risk assessments Assist in computer software development to the Architecture and Building Surveying Department To highlight areas of development and opportunities To strive to improve via development and knowledge individually Understand the professional duty of care arising from the relationship between clients, architects, employer and employee Person Specification HND Building Studies, Architectural Technology or Architecture degree with at least two year’s full-time experience Technical design skills for refurbishment and heritage type projects in central London Previous experience with work on existing buildings in urban locations - interiors and sensitive areas in particular Have a good eye for quality design, detail and its implementation Computer skills Proficient in AutoCAD Knowledge of Revit and Adobe Photoshop CC/Elements advantageous Knowledge of InDesign (not essential) Proficient in use of MSOffice including Word and Excel Proficient in use of MS Outlook and Internet Communication Be methodical/organised with work following a tight programme and deadlines Knowledge of construction on-site, its application in office work/documentation and vice versa Must have a professional and friendly manner with excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate coherently at all levels both internally and externally.
