Overview
Working for The Jockey Club, to lead the sponsorship and commercial partners’ sales for Aintree and to support with Partnerships for the rest of the region. Build on existing foundations, maximising the value of existing sponsors and partners and to identify, develop and grow new sponsorships, partnerships and revenue streams, with the support of the Managing Director - Aintree, Regional Heads of Sales and Marketing and the General Manager at Carlisle. To co-ordinate all arrangements for the North West region’s partners (prior to, during and after race meetings) using the wider sales team to help deliver this service on racedays, including at the Randox Health Grand National Festival. Key Responsibilities/Job Role: INTRODUCTION: As a key member of the Region’s team this role has a significant effect on the racecourse’s overall financial performance. The focus is on improving sales through proactively building sponsorship and commercial partner sales. The role should work closely with sales colleagues and especially deliver on sponsorship/commercial partners with the support of the Managing Director - Aintree, Regional Heads of Sales and Marketing, the General Manager at Carlisle and Regional Director - North West to identify companies and sectors to target, the creation of sales material and follow up. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: To manage the Partnership team, setting objectives and KPI’S which are linked to performance. To lead the search and recruitment of new sponsors/partners and the retention of current ones via a focused, results-driven sales plan, with support from the Managing Director - Aintree, Regional Heads of Sales and Marketing, the General Manager at Carlisle and Regional Director - North West. To ensure raceday sponsorship and commercial partner targets are met. To liaise with sponsors and/or their agency in the build up to their racedays, advising sponsors regarding requirements and execution of sponsors’ branding, liaising with the catering team for hospitality arrangements, organising badge requirements and numbers cloths and arrange any security needs prior to the race day. To maintain a very strong link with/account manage the Region’s key sponsors and act as their first point of contact throughout the year. To account manage the relationship and take ownership of and facilitate all actions required of the Region’s team. The job holder is responsible for enhancing and building the relationships. To organise the right team to look after sponsors on race days, ensuring their hospitality is properly delivered, assisting with escorting sponsors to the paddock/winner’s enclosure for their race/presentations, to co-ordinate the presentations, and to direct the photographer on the race day for sponsors’ requirements. This will involve close liaison with the Chairmen and regional management teams. To deliver the regional sponsorship and partnership budget. Driving new innovative concepts and working closely with the marketing team to ensure creative propositions are delivered. To create and implement sales tools and processes to improve sponsorship sales across the region. To develop sales presentations and bespoke detailed sponsorship/partnership proposals tailored to the individual needs of each company based on their strategic agendas. Undertake detailed research and analyse and utilise relevant data to identify target partners and new income generating opportunities. To be involved and active in local networking groups and relevant trade bodies (e.g., Local Chambers of Commerce). To maintain and actively use an accurate, up-to-date database of clients in order to maximise business. To liaise with RaceTech/Marketing department for announcements, promotional videos, logos and starting stall banners. To provide support and help organise the Racecard and liaison with Weatherbys and Timeform via the Marketing department. To assist in the preparation and distribution of presentations, mailshots and other literature with the Marketing department and Head of Sales, to generate new sponsors and C&E and Hospitality clients and keep current customers aware of the Region’s activities and opportunities as well as draw in new ones. To assist in the organising of sponsors events/forums. To work with the Regional Communications Manager to assist in arranging and co-ordinating press conferences before and after major races, and other public relations duties as required. To ensure the region specific sponsorship and partnership activities compliment, support and, where possible, enhance the wider Group inventory requirements and opportunities.
