Overview

Our client are a leading talent development agency, creative producer, music educator and consultancy specialising in jazz. Responsibilities General Devise and implement strategies to support objectives in developing opportunities for young and emerging artists. Contribute to funding bids and business plans, fulfilling all monitoring and evaluation requirements in a timely manner Advocate in respect of all artist development and engagement programmes Responsibility for the management and operations of the Learning & Training department Organisational lead on inclusion, child protection/safeguarding policies and procedures Programming workshops and talks that give young artists insights into issues facing today’s professional musicians. Work with the Head of Special Projects on learning projects as required Renewing and sustaining contact with former trainee artists and identify ways we may continue to support and champion their progress after the programme Attending regular management meetings with key colleagues to advance strategic plans and ensure artist development sits at the heart of all activities. Person specification Essential qualifications, skills, knowledge or attributes Passion for music (in particular, but not exclusively jazz) with good knowledge of the music industry and arts sector Strong track record in performing arts administration, with outstanding organisational skills, and experience in strategic planning and resourceful delivery of artistic projects Solid and relevant experience in a management role in an arts or music education organisation In-depth knowledge and understanding of music education practice combined with sound knowledge of mentoring, managing and developing artists Demonstrable experience of devising, delivering and managing a varied programme of high quality small-/large-scale educational and development activity with young people, adults and professional artists Ability to plan and manage multiple projects Proven skills in financial planning, budget management and income generation, meeting targets Experience of producing management reports with relevant data and qualitative analysis Proven ability to motivate and mentor performing artists; sensitive understanding of musicians, their needs, and the challenges which they face Excellent people management skills, with experience in developing and maintaining effective partnerships and collaborations Strong IT/organisational skills, including use of Word, Excel and databases (preferably Filemaker), with close attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences Experience working in a culturally diverse team Knowledge and appreciation of diversity issues, approaches and good practice; commitment to delivering the Creative Case for Diversity Ability and willingness to undertake evening/weekend/bank holiday working, with occasional overnight stays/international travel Commercially astute in identifying opportunities, threats and potential conflicts of interest in all aspects of service development A clear enhanced criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (the successful candidate will be offered the position subject to this being done) Desirable qualifications, skills, knowledge or attributes Able to start immediately or as soon as possible Experience of learning and training in the arts/music sector Knowledge of marketing, especially digital and social media Experience working in the commercial music industry
