About the Role and Business Unit: The Policy and Research team delivers work that ranges from supporting local client needs, through to large scale National, European and International monitoring and impact evaluations. We work across a range of policy areas including education, employment, children, young people and families, health and wellbeing. The Senior Research Manager will join our team of 40 evaluators and researchers who are currently overseeing a growing number of high-profile policy and programme reviews and evaluations, including for the UK Department for International Development (DFID), the Independent Commission for Aid Impact, British Council, and other international NGO and government clients. You will be involved with delivering research, evaluation and consultancy projects in the fields of education, economic development, health, governance and citizenship, amongst others. Uniquely, you will have the opportunity to apply your research skills to other market areas of Ecorys, for example UK and European policy. You may work with our external partners, both UK and overseas academics and consultants, including some of the leading names in their fields. Role Responsibilities: Managing medium to large-sized research projects, controlling budgets and timescales and overseeing teams of other researchers and experts. Utilise core technical skills to design and oversee impact and performance evaluations, using research designs appropriate to the intervention. This will involve a variety of primary, secondary, qualitative and quantitative research methods, including survey design, sampling and econometric and other statistical analysis. Successfully conclude projects through the production of high quality written reports, presentations, articles and use of other dissemination channels. Manage high performing technical delivery teams to work within tight deadlines. As a key part of the role, you will be expected to work with Ecorys directors to lead proposals for new work, and to actively research opportunities to grow the company's portfolio of international projects and network of experts. Role Requirements: Experience of evaluation with a strong knowledge of public policy clients and markets relevant to international monitoring, evaluation and learning, This should include experience of supporting and overseeing survey data collection including in a developing country context. In addition to strong technical skills, you will need to be equally enthusiastic about business development, with some track record in winning new projects or research. Capability in stakeholder management and building and maintaining client relationships and with multidisciplinary and multicultural research teams (including academic and in-country partners). An excellent level of written English and strong presentation skills are essential. You will have a good quality first degree and a Master’s degree in international development, economics, research methods or related subjects. Strong experience in managing project delivery teams. Due to the nature of research, this role requires a DBS check and some international travel (average of 7-10 days at a time).
