Overview

We have a super new role for to work for a leading London based medical publisher as Production Editor. Working across their highly successful journals the Production Editor will be responsible for a portfolio of journals from submission stage to publication. This position will report to the Head of Production and is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience of working within scientific journal publishing who is looking to take responsibility for a highly successful journal, including new submissions, peer review, manuscript acceptance and dealing with proofs. You will liaise with authors and work with the Submissions team on article layout and online articles, as well as work with other internal editorial team members. Further aspects of this role will include acting as intermediary between editors and authors regarding any issues related to ethics, plagiarism and pre-published papers. You will become familiar with the company’s house style and keep up to date with changes to the production process as required. This is an ideal position for someone who is looking for further responsibility and a new challenge within journal publishing. The successful person will be educated to degree level or equivalent ideally in a scientific subject, though experience of working in STM journal publishing is more important. You will have previous experience within a production editor role or similar. You will have a knowledge of InDesign, and the ability to manage high quality work whilst working to deadlines. As this is a busy role, it is essential that you have the ability to multi-task and adapt to different situations and the ability to learn new processes and task quickly. Strong IT skills are essential as are sound admin and numeracy skills.
