Overview

CHP are an award winning, people focused organisation based in Chelmsford, Essex, and we are hiring. We have been providing more homes for people unable to rent or buy privately since March 2002 and we aim to build a home a day - 365 new homes per year. We are looking for a part time PR Officer (18 hours per week) to support the External Communications function by suggesting and implementing effective and efficient systems, standards, processes and practices to manage and deliver high quality, timely and value for money reputation management and stakeholder engagement that meet the needs of the business. Requirements What are my responsibilities? Contribute to the success of the External Communications team and wider Communications department by embodying a culture of excellence and continuous improvement and ensure the business has the support it needs to achieve its corporate strategy and objectives. Implement processes and practices so that the business's external communications opportunities and needs are identified, assessed and actioned within agreed SLAs Help to develop and implement a PR strategy and any supporting guidance to ensure CHP's media relations and issue/crisis management meet current business needs and priorities Help to develop and implement a Public Affairs strategy and any supporting guidance to ensure CHP's thought leadership and stakeholder engagement meet current business needs and priorities Track all media relations, stakeholder engagement, thought leadership and issue/crisis management activity to monitor and report on delivery and evaluation Produce, distribute and measure the effectiveness of media releases and social media content as agreed Help to build and maintain relationships with relevant media contacts, handling enquiries and selling in stories as required Liaise with the Marketing Communications team to commission content from them as needed Help to develop and implement a rolling annual programme of CHP participation in and attendance at external events, ensuring all requests for speakers are managed and supported Contribute to the development of and help implement an annual programme of CHP-organised stakeholder events to promote the business and facilitate targeted face to face engagement Help to ensure anyone representing CHP externally is supported including by setting up any agreed training and providing up to date information on agreed corporate lines Implement CHP's approach to engaging with awards including the delivery of any centrally supported entries and sponsorship, working with the Copywriter as needed Contribute to and align activity with the messaging matrix and plan for the department and wider business Ensure work is brand compliant and meets quality standards, agreed timelines and budgets Work with any agreed PR and Public Affairs suppliers to ensure they deliver high quality, timely and cost-effective services that comply with brand and other relevant guidelines and achieve agreed target outcomes for the business PERSON SPECIFICATION EssentialQualifications Educated to A level or equivalent. Experience, knowledge and skills High level of understanding and experience of PR across offline and digital channels High level of experience building relationships with and handling enquiries from journalists Excellent writing skills Experience of evaluation metrics and methods Experience of producing written and verbal briefings; Experience of crafting corporate messaging Strong relationship building, networking and influencing skills Strong understanding of what makes something newsworthy Strong understanding of what makes a good media release and social media post Knowledge of current and emerging best practice in media relations and issue/crisis communications; Understanding of brand compliance IT skills and knowledge of systems appropriate to the role eg Microsoft Office, media monitoring and horizon scanning software Ability to manage multiple pieces of work at one time.
