Overview

SIG Plc is currently looking to recruit a commercially driven Category Manager to proactively provide support to the Drylining Category at an exciting time for the business. You will be based from Adsetts House, which is our SIG Distribution Head Office in Sheffield. You will also attend supplier meetings offsite and may have the capacity to work from home at times after a settling in period. What does the role involve? As a Category Manager, you will provide the category with the necessary reports and analysis for the category, measuring performance and working closely with the internal colleagues. You will need to be pro-active and creative in suggesting and influencing trading, marketing and commercial initiatives and will focus to maximise gross profit through effective negotiation with suppliers, in line with company expectations. On an on-going basis, you will actively work cross functionally to bring new products to the market, gathering market data to support range and product development. In addition, you'll improve the end to end profitability of the defined category by annually targeted levels. To be a successful Category Manager you will manage the suppliers, in order to continually improve stock availability and maximise stock turn and ensure consistency of product specification and supplier quality control procedures, so that their products meet specification. You will look to maintain the integrity of pricing of the Company in its markets and establish the price of products and ensuring that sales and profit targets are achieved, whilst developing the product range to meet the needs of the customer. To apply for the Category Manager position, candidates must have experience within a buying, category or product management environment, preferably with a construction or FMCG background. The successful candidate must have strong negotiation skills with the ability to strategically influence, in addition to great organisational skills. You must be assertive with the ability to communicate at all levels, have an understanding of data and analysis, be numerate and possess a high standard of IT skills.
