Overview

Our client Walsall Council are looking for an Integration Project Officer to join the Community, Equality and Cohesion team. The job is working closely with deprived white communities and all minority communities to build capacity and promote integration joining a very small team of committed staff. Understanding impact of austerity on minority groups, oppression, a great people person who is keen to understand others without judgement is key as is ensuring and equality of opportunity is delivered. Developing partnerships new and existing through accountability and locality-based projects will be key to the work. Abilities/Skills: Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of effective techniques / activities which promote and achieve integration which are relevant to diverse communities Must demonstrate a methodical approach to work and attention to detail The ability to develop and deliver presentations to deliver effective messages. Must possess the ability to carry out research and apply learning to deliver effective integration projects. Must possess the ability to effectively engage with key stakeholders on matters related to integration and community tensions. Must demonstrate an effective approaches to communicating and engaging with minority and majority communities to achieve positive impact. Must have a strong commitment and can do attitude towards the delivery of integration outcomes through partnership working. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Must possess and demonstrate a commitment to delivering inclusive services that deliver integration. Effective personal communication skills that facilitate cooperation and change The ability to understand organisational priorities, needs and objectives Experience and knowledge of social media using various mediums to deliver messages and respond positively to challenge The ability to write funding applications, financial manage external funding and ensure effective delivery through monitoring and evaluation The ability to event manage through a team and partnership delivery methodology The ability to manage volunteers and staff through anti oppressive and reflective working practices Knowledge/Experience: Must have experience of working with diverse communities, including settled indigenous communities as well as minority and hard to reach groups Experience of working within the political landscape and locality based issues in minority and majority communities facilitating integration Experience of writing successful funding applications Experience of project management methodologies to ensure funding project delivery including financial monitoring Experience of delivering output driven projects which promote integration in diverse communities. Understanding of the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duty and how this is delivered in communities Experience of anti-oppressive and reflective working practices within a team environment and within community groups Experience of co-production of community projects Experience of delivering action research Knowledge and understanding of government integration priorities Evidence of continuous professional development (where applicable) Qualification: Degree Qualified
