Overview
The current Head Gardener will be retiring in summer 2020 and we are seeking an experienced, talented Head Gardener to join the team. Floors Castle is known for its impressive gardens and attracts over 30,000 visitors a year. The gardens are a showpiece of seasonal interest and inspired creations. You will be a key member of the senior management team and responsible for a team of 5 plus volunteer gardeners. Responsibilities include: Management of the gardens and grounds Themed herbaceous borders, walled garden, Tapestry and Millennium gardens Greenhouses and vegetable garden A natural woodland and extensive lawns Ensure Health & Safety implemented and followed Showcase gardens to visitors, host garden tours and workshops Assist in the development of gardens to maintain as a premier visitor attraction Responsibility for stock and budget control. Candidate Requirements: Previous experience as a senior member of a gardening team Previous historic house/garden experience preferred Excellent plant knowledge; ability to maintain gardens to high standards Creative ideas and innovative solutions Management experience Sensitive and flexible in respecting history and traditions Personable, confident, outgoing perosnality Happy to interact with visitors, sharing your knowledge and experience RHS level 3 or equivalent preferred Full, clean UK driving licence Competitive package on offer with pension and other benefits.
