Overview

Principal Internal Communications Manager Fixed Term Contract until March 2021 Salary between £50,000 - £65,000 per annum, DOE Birmingham I am currently working with a public sector client who are looking to add a Communications Professional to their team. The right candidate will have strategic experience within a communications environment, have the ability to present and engage with directors/board members, along with experience of making sure that colleagues are coached and developed through the correct processes. Corporate Communications Corporate Communications is an essential tool for the delivery of the organisation's strategy, working across the business to encourage effective engagement and communication amongst our own people and with external audiences. To achieve this, the Corporate Communications team has three aims: First, to set the agenda about how the sector can improve lives through environmental stewardship, public purpose and company performance. We do this by encouraging the right conversations, with our stakeholders, with media and with members of the public Second, to build connections and collaboration by strengthening our influence. We do this by using a range of tools to encourage people within and outside the sector to work together to improve lives through the sector Third, to increase our impact as a communications team and as a regulator. At the moment, there's a focus on listening directly to customers and using that insight to shape how we regulate and communicate. Role expectations Important strategic role leading internal communications across our offices in Birmingham and London. As well as having specific responsibilities for internal communications, you will be part of the management team for the Corporate Communications pool, with people management and other leadership responsibilities. We'll expect you to develop and lead internal communications strategies that are reflective of the priorities set out in our new strategy and that reflect our new ways of working as they become embedded. In doing so, you'll help to amplify the work that we are doing to shape the type of regulator we want to be, according to our new strategy. To do this, you'll build your own small team, as well as working in teams with colleagues from across the organisation and at all levels. We'll be looking to you to measure the success of our internal communications, building on what works well and innovating where necessary. In doing so, you'll need to provide professional advice, information and support to our Chair, Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team in getting the right messages across. You'll develop strong and collaborative working relationships with colleagues across the organisation, and lead the way in using different communication techniques - such as story-telling, digital channels and staff participation and engagement. Key deliverables To develop and implement an internal communications strategy for the organisation to help achieve the strategic vision for the organisation across both sites and to support its corporate strategy To manage a portfolio of internal communications plans across all the organisations work packages, working collaboratively with programme staff to support and enable effective internal communications activities To work collaboratively with colleagues across all clusters to ensure joined up, consistent and well planned internal communications across all areas of the organisations work To be responsible for the development of effective internal communications tools, including digital tools, events and to ensure they are widely used across the organisation To advise the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team on the development of internal communications messages, and to be responsible for the preparation and delivery of internal communications material To monitor the effectiveness of internal communications using a range of techniques To be part of the organisations crisis management team, providing advice on internal communications to the Chairman, Board and SLT. Essential Experience Able to demonstrate strong leadership skills; bringing people from a range of disciplines together to achieve a common aim. Strategic experience: in developing communications strategies and also working to maximise the impact of corporate strategies within organisations Able to demonstrate creative approaches to problem solving and delivery in different contexts Able to demonstrate building effective working relationships with a wide range of people at all levels Strong communication skills - verbal, written and presentation skills. Able to write clearly and concisely for a range of different channels and media Demonstrable experience of leading innovation in communications, including using different channels to communicate with different audiences Essential Knowledge Understanding of the role of internal communications in shaping and influencing organisational culture and how to maximise this Understanding of the role of audience segmentation and targeting for communications Understanding the wide range of different channels suitable for internal communication and how they are best deployed for different audiences If you would like to learn more about this opportunity, please call the office on or email
