With a focus on Employment Policy, the successful candidate will be responsible for: Delivering against multiple projects with a high degree of autonomy Leading policy development by consulting with members to recommend policy positions that represent the business view on a wide range of employment issues Managing stakeholder relationships with members, civil servants, trade unions and public agencies to leverage the value of networks and intelligence for members Briefing senior colleagues to enable effective lobbying during events like public appearances or Ministerial meetings Ensuring members are appropriated briefed with political and policy insight and intelligence so that they can make more informed HR decisions Communicating policy messages to public and member audiences, including by working with colleagues in the Employment Policy, Press and Marketing teams to devise and deliver effective campaigns Contributing to the delivery of a compelling offer on Employment Policy issues that encourages more businesses of all sizes and sectors to join the organisation. Key Responsibilities Leading the development of employment policy positions, both new and existing, including: Being a 'go-to' for members and senior colleagues on policy issues affecting employment policy, including relevant employment law, good practices in employee relations and labour market performance. Recommending how the wider political context affects the policy development, lobbying priorities and campaign messages of the Employment Policy team. Leading consultations with members to develop policy, managing competing commercial interests and recommending positions with broad support from employers of all sizes and sectors Taking ownership of multiple discrete projects (e.g. policy briefs, reports, consultation responses), using project management skills to track progress, manage risk and measure success Demonstrating the value of employment policy work to members and in the media, including: Recommending the best communication techniques to publicly campaign on the role employment plays in evidencing the social impact of business and for a labour market that enables firms to hire the people and skills they need Distilling political and practical insight on employment policy issues into accessible and engaging content for members, including in presentations and roundtable discussions Facilitating sessions with members to share learning on collective challenges to inform how firms better attract, develop and engage their staff Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including: Being a point-person for members, staff, and other stakeholders on employment policy, including advising senior colleagues of relevant debates in the wider political and media landscape Enabling colleagues in Press and Marketing to maximise the impact of employment policy work with members and stakeholders in the government, the opposition, and media. Building a network of contacts in key government departments, including the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Department for Work and Pensions and HM Treasury Proactively engaging with business leaders with responsibly for people issues at member companies to ensure that the Employment Team's work meets business' priorities. Supporting commercial strategy, including: Representing the Employment Policy team's work to business leaders to support commercial colleagues to recruit and retain members, including strategic accounts Recommending policy content and campaigns that lead to a strong member proposition on employment policy Working with commercial colleagues to secure partnerships that grow the non-subscription income PLEASE NOTE - THIS IS A 1 YEAR FIXED TERM CONTRACT
