About us At LayerTwo we're building new ways for users to access the most liquid cryptocurrency markets directly from their own wallet. We've built the first Bitcoin derivatives trading engine on the Lightning Network that allows users to instantly trade without exposing their funds to seizure, theft or long transfer times. We believe cryptocurrencies can be used as the building blocks for a faster, safer and more inclusive global financial system for all. As a senior backend software engineer at LayerTwo, you'll be helping us make this vision a reality. About the role We are looking for a talented senior backend software engineer that can join our team fulltime and help deliver our core platform at scale. As an early member of the team you’ll be taking a leading role in the design and development of the system covering everything from architecture to security. About you You are a dedicated problem solver that isn’t afraid to learn new concepts from scratch. You should also be able to look at projects from a macro perspective, that is, understanding the whole and not just individual components. You should genuinely be excited about financial technology as well as the financial markets. Experience programming in a typed programming language would be hugely beneficial. Also your opinions matter so you should be eager to express them. Moreover your decision making process should be based upon the careful consideration of all factors influencing a project success (timeframe, team strengths, culture) rather than tribalism for specific frameworks or engineering concepts. Stack Rust, Go, React, InfluxDB, Postgres Key Skills Experience in lower level programming and typed programming languages, ideally Rust. Experience in building and maintaining systems with a microservice architecture Experience setting up and working with CI/CD frameworks. Experience leading and working in small teams Nice to have Strong knowledge of AWS or Google Cloud.
