Overview
JOB OVERVIEW The Student Wellbeing Officer will contribute to the provision and delivery of the welfare and support systems in place for students in the International Study Centre. The Student Wellbeing Officer will work closely with the Centre's Student Wellbeing and Support Officer to develop and deliver appropriate services to students that help develop general wellbeing and personal resilience. The position will contribute to the care and supervision of students as well as being an information point for welfare within the International Study Centre. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES In conjunction with the Wellbeing and Support Officer, assign and support a case load of students to provide assistance relevant to identified wellbeing need Provide appropriate specific monitoring of and support to students who are aged under 18 at the commencement of their studies, in line with legal requirements, Study Group policies and Lancaster University expectations Provide pastoral care, counselling students with welfare and health issues, advising accordingly and maintaining notes in designated record system, keeping Centre staff informed as necessary and referring cases to professional services as necessary, working strictly to requirements of the GDPR Work within an extended range of networks and partnerships to broker support and learning opportunities and improve the quality of services to all students. Hold proactive discussions with Head of Curriculum and Progression and Professional Services team in relation to student welfare issues and potential progression risk Liaise with personal tutors in the operation of the RPAG rating system and contribute to organising support for at risk students Assist students with completing Mitigating Circumstances Forms and to attend Mitigating Circumstances meetings. Attend University disciplinary hearings as the ISC representative as necessary Attend the Centre's internal governance meetings and act on outcomes as necessary Support students in putting forward their application to Lancaster University Assist the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) with referrals, maintaining accurate records, attending a range of professional meetings, liaison with outside agencies and promoting the general welfare and safety of students across the ISC. In the absence of the DSL, to act as first point of contact for any member of staff who has a concern about the safety or wellbeing of a student. Assist with delivery of the induction programme and be responsible for inducting late arrivals Conduct and facilitate student/agent tours. Deal, on occasions, with out-of-office hours queries regarding student arrivals and emergencies (emergency phone) EXPERIENCE Level 3 qualification or above (Desirable) Experience of supporting young adults or vulnerable people Knowledge of the type of issues that an international student cohort could experience KEY BENEFITS Competitive salary 25 days holiday pro rata Enhanced pension scheme, season ticket loans, cycle to work scheme, Wellbeing centre, and much more.
