Senior Locum - Homelessness Lawyer
Overview
Our client, a local authority in London, requires a Senior Homelessness lawyer to join them ASAP on an interim basis. The successful candidate will join the housing team and will predominately deal with homelessness legal matters. The role; You will provide proactive, clear and concise legal advice and assistance to the Housing Needs Service Personally conduct advocacy on behalf of the Housing Needs Service and instruct counsel as appropriate Approve or amend legal aspects of reports to be submitted to members requiring decisions and attend committee and other meetings to give legal advice as necessary Provide proactive legal advice and assistance on homelessness to meet the needs of members and officers and assist with client liaison Actively contribute to developing policies and good practice in the Housing Needs Service and Legal Services To deal with individual case work and prepare associated documentation To handle complex litigation arising within the Housing Needs Service, including judicial review, undertaking advocacy and to instruct counsel where necessary To deal with corporate complaints and Members enquiries, data protection and FOI requests Keep up to date with changes in homelessness law and other related legislation and other developments in the Housing Needs Service, to disseminate information on changes and advise on any action to be taken as a result Previous management experience would be beneficial as you will be required to supervise Senior Legal Assistants, Legal Assistants and / or trainees as directed.
