This new business unit will be a global leader in engineering excellence and act as the catalyst for the development and validation of enhanced digital technologies such as 5G, the internet-of-things, artificial intelligence, cyber security and advanced visualisation technologies to create innovative engineering solutions of the future. The business is now looking to recruit a new Market Development Manager to join their senior management team. Market Development Manager Functionally reporting into the Digital Engineering Business Unit Director Working closely with the Digital Engineering Business Unit Director, Digital Engineering Programme Manager and Chief Engineer (Digital Engineering) to secure, define and deliver programmes within the Digital Engineering business unit Responsible for achieving Digital Engineering sector sales targets through developing and maintaining company relationships and working with the Capability groups and Delivery Partners to build projects and collaborations Responsible for engagement with customers (existing and potential), trade bodies and funders by developing and maintaining relationships, managing enquiries and representing the Digital Engineering business unit externally Formulate and maintain relationships across the business and with external organisations e.g. suppliers and other Catapult centres to share best practise and create collaborative opportunities Liaise between the Programme Managers and their teams, Delivery Partners, and customers (existing and potential) to develop new projects to identify, develop and support opportunities. ROLE PURPOSE: To support the development of the Digital Engineering capability as part of future national and regional initiatives To help secure future funding and deliver major programmes of collaborative research and development within the domain of Digital Engineering To enhance, develop and grow sales and customer base, to projects and activities through the engagement with customer’s in-line with existing, imminent and future industry need and global opportunity, helping the UK to capture its market share, through: Development of new, sector, markets and current customers work Increasing the Digital Engineering business unit’s income Managing member and key exist/potential customer relationships MAIN ACTIVITIES: Based on technical expertise and market knowledge and analysis, the Market Development Manager is responsible for: Identifying opportunities for Digital Engineering application and develop engagement strategy across sectors and industries Evaluating sector supply chain requirements, identify technology and process gaps and develop strategies to support OEMs and supply chain companies in their development programmes, by working with the business and other delivery partners Developing existing and new collaborative relationships with Universities and other RTO’s to champion the advancement of new technology and manufacturing processes in line with project need and the Digital Engineering Technology, Sector, Capability aligned roadmaps Representing the business unit externally; at exhibitions, events and seminars etc. and be able to prepare and present compelling presentations KEY REQUIREMENTS NEEDED: Specialist translational expertise to enable the development of strong customer relationships and technical research solutions/projects Specialism in combining customer relationships, technical expertise, programme management and solution/plan development A relevant degree or qualification and extensive experience demonstrating digital engineering and manufacturing knowledge and understanding at a broad level. Knowledge and expertise specific to sector or industry (including supply chain) in the UK and globally. Customer focused with a proven track record in managing customer relations and delivering project activity. Demonstrable experience of project shaping and proposal writing, developing requirements and SOW’s, ensuring commercial, financial and legal compliance.
