Overview

People often think that running is easy. All you need to do is put your shoes on and go out for a run.  Why then more than 50% of all runners really struggle with it? People often feel insecure about their own abilities, they struggle to find others at their level to run with, they're tired of running the same routes, they struggle to fit running into their schedule and to stay motivated. Current solutions - running apps, running clubs and private coaches - are all fragmented and suboptimal solutions that only offer partial support. At Lupa, we're working hard to help everyday runners have the tools they need to have the running experience they want by guiding them through their running journey end to end. If, like us, you are passionate about the Health and Fit-Tech space, about running, building a B2C consumer product and getting your hands dirty in an early stage startup - then we're the team for you About The Lupa App LUPA is the digital running studio where everyday runners can: Find group runs at their level and tailored to their needs and preferences. Track their activity to measure their improvement and see insightful, well-being focused metrics. Be guided and coached by expert runners and supported by an inclusive community. Access a broad range of running sessions, experiences and courses. All in one platform. The Team We're a team of 2 co-founders who recently left Google and SOSV to start Lupa. We have 10 years of experience in the tech startups world with backgrounds in Professional Sports, Deep/Health Tech, Theoretical Physics, BioTech and Automotive. We're and have been professional athletes with a strong passion for sports and healthy competition among people, in running as much as in life. Who Are We Looking For / About You We're looking for a full-stack mobile engineer to join the team as the first employee and be at the driving seat of the app development and, potentially, to lead a growing tech team of engineers and data scientists. This is a greenfield project, you will have the opportunity and responsibility of leading the tech development of the Lupa platform, make the critical architectural decisions and ship the product. We’re building an ecosystem, not just a single feature app. We’ll need to integrate with a variety of partners as well as deal with multiple data sources - location, run tracking etc. We need a tech stack that can handle all the data If you like the sound of that and are up for a challenge, join us. We'd love to hear what you have to say. Key Requirements As the first Full Stack Developer in our team, over the next 12 months, you will: • Build, launch and iterate the Lupa App. • Build a back-end infrastructure in an adaptable and scalable way, so we can ship new features fast, with no downtime. • Build, iterate and maintain the Lupa website, web-app (TBD). • Develop APIs and 3rd-party integrations. • Contribute to building new features and services of the App/Platform, ensuring that our standards stay high and that we can scale to meet demand. • Gain an understanding of our business, our customers, and our domain, allowing you to use your judgement to make autonomous decisions. • Work with designers, developers and user researchers to identify, prioritise, solve problems iteratively. • Write and maintain tests throughout our codebase. Must Have Professional full-stack mobile development experience, with a history of shipping iOS and/or Android apps end-to-end. You’ll choose the tech stack, you have demonstrable experience in building with those technologies and can articulate why it makes business sense to choose them. Doing testing the right is second nature to you, whether that be TDD or another. You’ve been there, done that and got the t-shirt. You’ve built, worked with and maintained APIs You’re up to date and actively learning the best design patterns Experience working with and building databases Experience with version control Knowledge of the below is a plus: Flutter/Dart - to be discussed. Your Mindset Working in a startup and launching a product from scratch ain't a walk in the park. You're not looking for a job, you're looking for a challenge in an industry you're truly passionate about and product that you want to see in the world. You put people and customers at the heart of everything we do and that empathy drives every decision you make. You're passionate about building solid and scalable technology. You look at technology as one of the many pieces of the product. You're interested in the user experience and how the tech is related to it. You understand business requirements and embrace an agile mindset. You can work independently and plan your own solutions to problems. You consult the rest of the team when decisions need to be consulted. If this sounds like what you’d love to be doing, we can’t wait to hear from you If you love the role but don’t know if you’re a 100% match then still get in touch, we value attitude and propensity to learn above lists of roles in a CV. What Happens Next We aim to have a simple and speedy hiring process and we want to make sure that we are right for you as much as the other way around. The hiring process follows these 4 steps: CV application review - We will review it as quickly as possible and update on the next steps. Quick chat with our CEO about your experience and the role. Coding Exercise & Interview - we will give you a small coding challenge that reflects one of our product needs, following a 40min. review chat and tech interview. Meet the team in person. What We Offer • A cool badass team • The opportunity to work on something new, exciting • Competitive salary with generous stock options • High job flexibility and autonomy • A free running coach (£150/month) • And much more Our Values We're a highly active team who love sports, the outdoors, running, cycling, swimming, Judo, water polo, hiking, climbing and you name it :) We work hard, sport hard and recover well. Balance is key. Kindness goes a long way, authenticity and truth do too, even when they hurt. At Lupa, when it comes to running, we believe that there is no such thing as "too slow, too little or too short". We believe that regardless of where you are along your running journey, there always is a place for you.
