Overview

Do you want to play a key role in an organisation which advocates for children’s rights? Join our Policy, Advocacy and Research department as a Nutrition Adviser to support Save the Children country offices to ensure that children’s right to good nutrition are support and respected. As Nutrition Adviser you will carry out a broad range of assignments. In particular, you will advocate for improving infant and young child feeding practices (especially breastfeeding), in order to have a long-term impact on reducing  malnutrition  You will be able to advise colleagues on nutrition policy and advocacy , as well as developing and maintaining good relationships with key external stakeholders and advocacy targets. Additionally, you will: Support Save the Children offices to engage with the Tokyo Nutrition for Growth Summit 2020 to drive national progress towards ending malnutrition by 2030, including through infant and young child feeding practices Build capacity for implementation, monitoring and enforcement of the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes by governments, especially in China and Nigeria Ensure that senior colleagues are up-to-speed on the latest policy developments and debates Build strong relationships with our country programmes and other colleagues across our global movement to ensure that national-level advocacy work is delivered and informs international debates and decision-makers Write advocacy briefings, externally published articles and blogs, as well as assist in the drafting of press releases, Q&As and opinion piece. To be successful you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven track record in advocacy success in low and middle-income countries. You’ll have a strong knowledge of nutrition in international development, particularly with regards to infant and young child feeding.  In addition, you will have: Strong networking and experience of participating in coalitions and working with civil society actors to deliver change Knowledge of human rights, international relations, political analysis and the international humanitarian system Ability and willingness to travel for up to six weeks per year.
