Job Description
Principle Project Manager Location: Redditch A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Principle Project Manager to join a well established and dynamic organisation. My clients are going through an exciting digital transformation ensuring they have a single view of their customers bringing all business divisions together. As the Principle Project Manager, you will be supporting the Head of Delivery by successfully delivering a complex portfolio of projects within budget and on time. The role will require extensive vendor management which will include managing offshore relationships. Key Responsibilities * As the Principle Project Manager, you will be responsible for a portfolio of complex projects with high budgets and risk to the organisation. Understanding commercial drivers and business strategy to ensure appropriate project prioritisation * Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, provide communication strategies, ensure business ownership * As the Principle Project Manager, you will be responsible for Produce project plans, a critical path and required reporting, including RAG portfolio dashboards and project status reports. Managing risks, issues and changes, escalating as appropriate * Identify resource requirements and assign individual responsibilities, including third parties * As the Principle Project Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day management of operational aspects of the portfolio, projects and scope. Providing guidance to project teams and communication with Stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle * Ensure suitable IT Testing and business usability is performed * Ensure organisational procedures, project methodologies/standards and best practice are adhered to * As the Principle Project Manager, you will control and report on portfolio expenditure in accordance with corporate governance processes * Ensure business objectives are met, the business change is managed, and the benefits are realised * Ensure delivery of documentation and training to enable adoption of delivered changes * As the Principle Project Manager, you will facilitate formal handover to the business sponsor and support teams * Ensure effective project closure (including capturing lessons learned) * Be a role model to other project managers and mentor them in project management skills, including leadership, methodologies, tools, people skills * Coach junior project managers * Contribute to the recruitment process of new project managers * Deliver continuous improvement in project management principles * Contribute to the IT strategy Key Skills/Experience * Experience of project management, with proven track-record of successfully delivering complex, high risk, high budget projects to timeline and cost is essential * A strong leader with the ability to make things happen, align others toward a common purpose and to empower & inspire people to achieve success * Commercially astute and business (not only IT) focused * A background within logistics/distribution/retail/FMCG would be highly preferred * Takes a holistic view of the project portfolio/landscape * Experienced in end to end project delivery, including continuous impact assessment of change e.g. other projects/initiatives and infrastructure, service and support requirements * Experience of setting challenging deadlines * Excellent communication and influencing skills and expert listener * Builds and maintains effective working relationships, including at senior/executive level * Experience of leading and managing large project teams and 3rd parties * Has the ability to make things happen, a hands-on approach, delivery focused with an emphasis on practical results * Strong vendor management experience ideally on and offshore * Is collaborative and works in a co-operative way * Proven ability to anticipate project issues * Able to rationalise potential issues and provide solutions * Can prioritise and plan effectively * Can multi-task and is highly organised * Experienced in corporate governance of project management * Excellent working knowledge of benefits management and business changes * Excellent working knowledge of project life cycle, techniques and methodologies * Ability and willingness to deliver effectively using Waterfall or Agile methodologies, and act in capacity as Scrum Master as well as Project Manager 1
