GMIN Ventures Guyana Inc. is seeking a skilled Field Civil Engineer to join our team for the Oko West gold mine project in Guyana. This role involves a combination of detailed civil engineering design work, followed by on-site project execution. The ideal candidate will start by developing the detailed civil engineering plans for various structures and infrastructures, then oversee and ensure alignment between design and construction on-site.


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

5+ years of experience in civil engineering, preferably in large-scale industrial or mining projects.

Strong understanding of civil and structural engineering principles related to industrial infrastructure.

Experience in both engineering design and field supervision.

Proficiency in engineering design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.).Ability to work in a remote, site-based environment under challenging conditions.

Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Willingness to travel to the Oko West mine site for extended periods during the construction phase.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with gold mining or heavy industrial projects is an asset.

Familiarity with the environmental and regulatory requirements in Guyana or similar regions.

Previous experience working in remote locations.


Additional information

2-year contract for the engineering and construction period, with the possibility of becoming a permanent contract once the mine is in operation.
Position based on the mine site. Fly-in/Fly-out once the construction starts.

Key Responsibilities:


Detailed Engineering and Design:

Develop and prepare detailed civil engineering plans for industrial structures, such as process plants, truck shops, warehouses, conveyors, and other mine-related infrastructure.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, structural) to ensure integration of civil design into overall project plans.

Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and local building codes.

Conduct soil studies, drainage, and foundation analysis to design appropriate solutions for the site.

Work with procurement teams to specify and source appropriate materials.


Pre-Construction Coordination:

Liaise with project management and construction teams to ensure designs are practical and feasible for on-site execution.

Provide input on construction schedules, resource allocation, and material availability.

Participate in the review and approval of technical documents, such as material specifications, construction methodologies, and quality assurance plans.


Site-Based Construction Supervision:

Transition to on-site work at the Oko West mine site to oversee civil engineering construction activities.

Ensure that construction aligns with detailed engineering plans, specifications, and safety standards.

Coordinate with site teams, contractors, and subcontractors to manage day-to-day construction tasks, including quality checks, material inspections, and problem resolution.

Monitor progress, resolve technical issues, and implement design changes as needed based on site conditions.

Conduct field inspections and tests to ensure structural integrity and compliance with design plans.

Act as the main point of contact between the engineering and construction teams for civil-related tasks.


Reporting & Documentation:

Prepare detailed reports on project progress, technical issues, and resolutions.

Maintain accurate records of design changes, field modifications, and construction updates.

Provide regular updates to project management on engineering and construction activities.


Health & Safety:

Adhere to and enforce G Mining’s safety standards, promoting a strong safety culture on the site.

Ensure all civil construction activities are performed safely and efficiently, in compliance with local and international safety regulations.
