Our client is looking for Protection Assistant


Qualifications & Requirements

• University degree or equivalent in law or other related studies.

• Current residence in Guyana

• Ability to travel within the country.

• Fluency in Spanish and English (written and oral) is required.

• At least 2-3 years of legal practice experience.

• Preferably with proven knowledge of Migration Law, Humanitarian Law, International Refugee


Essential Functions

• Promote and protect the rights of the most vulnerable migrants in the community.

• Give support and direction in designing, planning and implementation of legal protection activities

• Work with GBV survivors, men, forcibly displaced women, and host communities in urban and rural sectors.

• Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of good coordination relationships with counterparts, be they government authorities, local community leaders and advocates.

• Actively observe the general context and actions of authorities in their approach to potential persons of concern, to provide legal analysis and reports on trends, impressions of guidance, legal interventions and coordination.

• Provide legal guidance on access to regular migration status, protection against GBV and access to rights following international regulations through the preparation of information material, working groups, applications, official letters and administrative appeals, information sessions, training, and specialized training, among others-

• Detect risk situations that may be faced by persons of interest and coordinate quality, timely and effective protection measures. In this regard, it should identify cases for referral to other program areas or other partner agencies.

• Accompany and, if required, represent forcibly displaced persons in processes to obtain their migratory regularization, as well as survivors of GBV.

• Build Capacity for HIAS staff, partner staff and other stakeholders on protection of persons of concern

• Produce accurate, detailed and timely reports highlighting objectives, achievements and impact on project activities.

• Contribute to the development of project proposals and concept notes as well as information education and communication (IEC) materials.

• Any other task assigned by the Country Directorate, Program Manager and/or the GBV Coordinator.
