Support Worker - part-time role - FEMALE ONLY
Overview
Job Description
The feeling of empowering people with learning disabilities and autism to live a life that makes sense to them is heartwarming. And seeing the difference you can make is unforgettable! We love what we do and are recognised as an award winning charity for our passion and dedication. Join us a part-time Support Worker and you'll see why! This post is 30 hours a week. Due to the need for personal care for the women we support, we are only able to accept female applicants for this role . About the role Our friendly and fun household in Flitwick is home to six adults (aged between 50 to 70), who all have a range of learning disabilities . We're looking for a part-time Support Worker to help assist us with a range of activities from the everyday living needs and 'must dos' (such as assisting with medications, supporting with attending health and medical appointments and some personal care), through to the lighter side of life doing things like becoming involved with the local community, shopping, baking, gardening and socialising with family and friends. We occasionally have instances of challenging behaviour which is usually because one person requires additional emotional reassurance and support. We will make sure you are fully prepared and trained to deal with these situations if and when they arise. You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins (2/3 times per week). Morning shift is from 7.30am to 3pm; Afternoon shift is from 2.30pm to 10pm. Who are we? We are an award-winning Charity with the core belief that everyone has potential, something to offer and a valuable contribution to make to their community. We use person-centered approaches to keep the people we support safe, happy and healthy and to ensure each individual is able to live a life that makes sense to them. Using a Positive Behaviour Support strategy ensures we see the person first, not their disability. What we need from you Firstly, you don't need experience to become a Support Worker but it's not easy. The work can be demanding and challenging at times but no two days are the same and the reward of seeing YOUR personal impact really is incredibly inspiring... The type of person who makes a great support worker at MacIntyre, is someone who is an excellent listener, is empathetic to another persons needs and will eventually be able to just 'know' what may or may not be a helpful approach for the person they are supporting. As long as you have the passion and drive to want to make a real difference, we'll teach you the rest. With your key attributes and our training, together we can deliver the best possible support. *You will be driving our home's mobility car so it is essential you have a full manual driving licence and be aged 21 or over for insurance purposes. Training and benefits MacIntyre provides a full induction and ongoing training, including the opportunity to gain nationally accredited vocational qualifications, free of charge. Our benefits include: * 30 days annual leave (including statutory public holidays) pro rata for part-time * Workplace pension scheme * MacIntyre Perks which offers up to 6% discount off leading retailers including Tesco, Curry/PC World, Costa and many more * Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) to support your health and wellbeing * MacIntyre Staff Savings Scheme * Cashplan which provides money back on core health treatments such as: optical, dental, physiotherapy, chiropody * MacIntyre Rewards Scheme * MacIntyre pays for your DBS check Part-time positions are pro rata.
